NFL Update: Week Twelve

Two weeks after recording his first career interception, Titans' linebacker Zach Brown had another first on Sunday, recording two sacks against the Jacksonville Jaguars. His first multi-sack game brings his total to three in his rookie season. He led the Titans with 10 tackles on the day as they fell to the Jaguars 24-19. Hakeem Nicks also contributed to a career milestone, as his fourth quarter touchdown reception was the 200th touchdown pass of quarterback Eli Manning's career. On the day, Nicks led the Giants' receivers with five receptions for 77 yards, including the touchdown in a 38-10 New York victory. 


Other former Tar Heels in action this weekend include:


Marvin Austin, NY Giants - Austin was rendered inactive for the second consecutive game. The third year pro has four tackles on the year along the Giants' defensive line.


Connor Barth, Tampa Bay - The sixth year place kicker contributed 11 of the Buccaneers' 23 points, converting three of four field goals and two extra points. Barth connected on field goals of 22, 42, and 48 yards, while missing on a 56 yard attempt.


Bruce Carter, Dallas - Carter tallied nine total tackles and a hit on the quarterback prior to leaving the game with a dislocated left elbow. He currently leads the Cowboys with 70 tackles on the year. Dallas dropped the contest 38-31 on Thanksgiving day.


Quinton Coples, NY Jets - Coples saw action from his defensive end position on Thanksgiving night, contributing to a Jets defense that allowed five total touchdowns to the Patriots in a 49-19 loss.


Shaun Draughn, Kansas City - The second year tailback logged 13 yards on two carries for a nice 6.5 yard average. He also recorded 53 yards on two kickoff returns in the Chiefs' 17-9 loss to the Broncos.


Vonnie Holliday, Arizona - Holliday also saw time along the defensive line for a Cardinals defense that held the Rams to 194 yards through the air. On the year, Holliday has 10 tackles and a fumble recovery.


Greg Little, Cleveland - Little hauled in one pass for six yards as the Browns upset the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-14. He was targeted four times.


Michael McAdoo, Baltimore - The Ravens placed McAdoo on injured reserved for the season following Achilles surgery.


Julius Peppers, Chicago - Peppers logged one unassisted tackle in the Bears' 28-10 defeat of the Minnesota Vikings.  The defense held the Vikings to 258 total yards in the contest.


Robert Quinn, St. Louis - Quinn aided in a Rams defense that held the Cardinals to 17 points and scored two defensive touchdowns. The young defensive lineman has logged 8.5 sacks in his third year in the league.


Garrett Reynolds, Atlanta - The Falcons placed Reynolds on injured reserved for the season with a lower back injury. Reynolds started the first six games of the season before getting hurt.


Jeff Saturday, Green Bay - Saturday and the Packers' offensive line contributed to 201 yards through the air and 116 rushing yards in a Green Bay defeat. Saturday has started every game thus far.


Da'Norris Searcy, Buffalo - The third year safety made four tackles from the secondary, one of which was unassisted. The Bills dropped the contest 20-13 to the Indianapolis Colts. Searcy has 28 stops on the year, six short of his career high with five games to play.


Gerald Sensabaugh, Dallas - Sensabaugh contributed three tackles to the Dallas defensive effort, two of which were solo stops. The three takedowns give him 35 on the season.


Brandon Tate, Cincinnati - Tate caught the only ball thrown his way for a total of six yards. He returned one kickoff for 25 yards and two punts for eight yards. The Bengals won 34-10 over the Oakland Raiders.


Ryan Taylor, Green Bay - The third year tight end continues to see time in the Green Bay special teams, contributing to the effort in a 38-10 loss to the Giants.


Cam Thomas, San Diego - Thomas made two stops from his defensive tackle position, both of which were solo tackles. He now has four tackles over the last two weeks and nine takedowns on the year.


Greg Warren, Pittsburgh - The ninth year long snapper helped the Steelers convert both of their extra point attempts. Pittsburgh also punted six times for 275 yards.


Johnny White, Green Bay - White was active again in the Packers special teams unit, seeing time in a 38-10 loss. The third year running back was tested for a concussion after suffering a hit in the contest.


TJ Yates, Houston - Yates and the Texans improved to 10-1 on the year after escaping with a 34-31 overtime win in Detroit on Thanksgiving.
