MEN'S BASKETBALL:  Carolina arrived in Maui over the weekend, and here's a Maui Notebook ... The Tar Heels began a stretch of four road games in six days on Friday night at Long Beach State and beat the 49ers ... Here's Adam Lucas' column on the game ... UNC announced the signing of two prospects for next season ... Lucas previewed the road trip out west on Friday ... Prior to the road trip, UNC New Media produced its weekly video report, "This Week in Carolina Basketball" ... UP NEXT:  The Tar Heels open play in the Maui Invitational on Monday at 6 p.m. Eastern Time against Mississippi State on ESPN2 (and will continue with games on Tuesday and Wednesday in Maui).

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:  Carolina beat Georgetown on Wednesday in Chapel Hill to advance to the championship game of the Preseason NIT .. Here's Lauren Brownlow's column on the big win ... The Tar Heels advanced to Sunday's championship game against Iowa in Iowa City and won the NIT title, 77-64 ... UP NEXT:  Carolina will host LaSalle on Saturday.

FIELD HOCKEY:  The Tar Heels bussed to Norfolk, Va., for the NCAA Tournament Final Four over the weekend ... On Friday, top-ranked Carolina beat Syracuse to advance to the national title game ... On Sunday in the NCAA championship game, UNC lost 3-2 to Princeton, falling in the national final for the third year in a row ... The night before the semifinals, Loren Shealy won the NCAA Elite 89 Award.

FOOTBALL:  On Thursday night, the Tar Heels pounded Virginia in Charlottesville, 37-13 ... Here's a photo gallery from the victory ... MEN'S SOCCER:  Carolina earned the No. 9 overall seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament ... On Sunday, the Tar Heels hosted UMBC and beat the Retrievers, 3-2 ... UP NEXT:  Carolina will host Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday in the NCAA round of 16.

WOMEN'S SOCCER:  On Friday, the Tar Heels beat Illinois in the NCAA Tournament second round at Fetzer Field ... On Sunday, the Tar Heels went to overtime and advanced past Baylor on penalty kicks ... UP NEXT:  UNC will play at Utah in the NCAA quarterfinals on Friday.

SWIMMING & DIVING:  The Tar Heels hosted the Nike Cup over the weekend and performed well, taking silver ... UP NEXT:  Members of the UNC squad will take part in the U.S. Open on Nov. 29-30 in Austin, Texas.

VOLLEYBALL:  Carolina hosted Virginia Tech on Friday night and swept the Hokies, then picked up a home win over Virginia on Saturday ... UP NEXT:  Carolina will host NC State on Wednesday in the regular season finale, then await word on an NCAA Tournament bid.

WRESTLING:  Carolina had a pair of dual meets on Sunday in Lincoln, Neb., beating South Dakota State and losing to No. 14 Nebraska ... UP NEXT:  Carolina will take part in the Nittany Lion Open on Dec. 2 in State College, Pa.
