GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina sophomore Evan Henderson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week.

The 19^th-ranked Henderson posted six wins over the weekend, including a pair of victories over fellow Top-20 wrestlers en route to 141-pound title at the Wolfpack Open. The New Florence, Pa., native scored a 6-1 decision over West Virginia’s No. 20 Nathan Pennesi in the Open semifinals, then pinned Chattanooga’s No. 18 Dean Pavlou just 27 seconds into the second period of the title match.

Prior to those two wins, Henderson opened on Friday night with a 13-4 major decision of Arizona State’s Matt Kraus in a dual meet. His Wolfpack Open victories also included a 22-7 technical fall win over Utah State’s Avery Garner, a 13-4 major decision vs. Maryland’s Derrick Evanovich and a 16-5 major decision vs. NC State’s Tyler Hunt.
