CHAPEL HILL --- Lauren McHale and Tessa Lyons captured the Blue Draw doubles title to highlight play on day two of the Kitty Harrison Invitational Saturday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Tar Heel duo defeated opponents from Virginia and Marshall to take the crown. McHale also advanced to the Blue Draw singles final and will face Duke's Mary Clayton Sunday at 9 a.m.
McHale, who did not drop a set in two wins Friday, rallied from down a set to defeat Duke's Annie Mulholland, 5-7, 6-0, 6-1. The All-America senior will have to beat another Blue Devil to take the title, as Duke's Clayton defeated Lyons in the other semifinal, 7-5, 6-1. Lyons will face Mulholland in Sunday's third-place match.
In the White Draw, Laura Slater fell to Marshall's Ellie Ball in a tight three-setter, 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-4.
