McGee, Neuenfeldt Take ACC Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina grabbed both player of the week nods from the ACC this week following an exciting weekend of two wins over ranked teams.

Senior outside hitter Emily McGee and freshman middle blocker Paige Neuenfeldt have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Players of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.

McGee posted two double-doubles over the weekend as North Carolina defeated No. 23 Miami, 3-0, and No. 11 Florida State, 3-1. Against the Hurricanes, the Naperville, Ill., native hit 10 kills with only two errors, had three aces, and added 17 digs in the three-set sweep. The next day against the Seminoles, she accumulated 13 kills and 16 digs, her eleventh double-double of the year. For the weekend, she averaged 3.29 kills and 4.71 digs per set.

Neuenfeldt earns her fourth Freshman of the Week honor and third straight for her performance in the two wins over ranked conference opponents. The native of Birmingham, Mich., hit .533 with nine kills in the win over Miami. Against Florida State, she tied her season high with 14 kills. In the two matches, she had 23 kills on a .432 hitting percentage, four digs, and six blocks. She has tallied at least nine kills and hit above .350 in eight straight matches dating back to Oct. 12.

UNC travels to Georgia Tech for a match on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and then faces Clemson on Saturday at 6 p.m. Stay tuned to for more information on the UNC volleyball team.
