Ten Tar Heels Open Spring At Columbus NAC

Ten Tar Heel fencers kicked off 2017 by competing in the January North American Cup Jan. 6-9 in Columbus, Ohio.

The highest overall finish was by Matthew Garrelick, who placed 16th of 180 in Junior Men’s Sabre. On the women’s side, senior Sarah Hanvy was 63rd in Division I Women’s Sabre, a field of 137.

The team returns to practice on Wednesday as spring semester classes at UNC get underway. On Sunday the Tar Heels will compete at the Penn State Dual Meets in State College, Pa.
