Track & Field Head To ACC Outdoors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina track and field teams will compete at the 2013 ACC Outdoor Championships Thursday through Saturday in Raleigh, N.C., at the Paul H. Derr Track on NC State's campus.

NC State will host the ACC Championship for the ninth year and the first time since 2003, when the Florida State men and North Carolina women won the title. The Virginia Tech men are the defending ACC champions, while the Clemson women will be seeking their fourth straight conference title.

The multis events will take place Thursday beginning at 11:30 a.m. with the women's heptathlon and Friday beginning at 11 a.m. with the men's decathlon. Field and running events will take place all three days of the meet with an awards ceremony at the conclusion of events on Saturday.

Live results will be available. Live video coverage will be available Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. More information about the 2013 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships can be found at theACC.com.

Heading into the conference championships, Carolina has 18 individuals and one relay ranked in the top five in 17 events in the ACC. Many Tar Heels will be looking to secure their invitations to the NCAA East Regional as 24 individuals and one relay are currently ranked in the top 48 places that will be invited to that NCAA Championships first round.

The Tar Heels have won a conference-best 14 ACC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, ahead of Virginia's and Clemson's five. On the men's side, Maryland leads with 26 titles, followed by Clemson with 11 while Carolina has five.
