Carolina Boys Golf Camp Dates Announced

In his second year at the helm, Head Coach Andrew Sapp is thrilled to announce the dates for the 2013 Carolina Boys Golf Camps.  The first camp will be the Father/Son Day Camp and will be hosted Friday, June 14 - Sunday, June 16 during Father's Day weekend.  The Boys Overnight Camp will be Sunday, June 23 - Thursday, June 28.  Both camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by number of campers, grade level and/or gender.

Father's Day Weekend, June 14-16, 2013

The Father/Son Day camp gives fathers and sons (of all ages) a fantastic opportunity to spend Father's Day Weekend together while sharing instruction and tips on the course, as well as at the driving range, wedge area, and short game facilities.  This camp includes individualized video instruction, comprehensive short game training, three rounds of golf, lunches, and camp gifts (no housing/lodging is provided).  Each afternoon, the Father and Son pairs will play 18 holes of golf on the UNC Finley Golf Course, site of a 2015 NCAA Regional.  The camp will run Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from approximately 9:00am - 6:00pm.  Camp size is limited to the first 20 participants.

Daily Schedule:

9:00-12:30pm: Skill Instruction (video, wedges, chipping, pitching, putting, etc)
12:30-1:30pm: Lunch (provided)
1:30-6:00pm: Play 18 holes



June 23-27, 2013

Junior golfers, grades 6-12, will enjoy five days of developing good fundamentals of the game, practice habits, and course strategies.  Participants will receive camp gifts, individual instruction from varsity collegiate coaches, video analysis of their golf swing, complete on-course playing assignments, perform practice drills, learn about junior tournament schedules and college recruiting, and hear from many guest speakers including current Division I student-athletes.  Campers will also participate in an 18-hole camp tournament and will leave camp with a personalized plan for continued improvement.  This camp places an emphasis on safety, fun, and learning.  The size of the camp will be limited to the first 40 participants.

Camp Staff

UNC Men's Head Coach, Andrew Sapp, is in his second year leading the Tar Heels.  Coach Sapp is currently in his 20th year of coaching.  He played collegiate golf for the Tar Heels, graduating in 1993, and then served as the UNC assistant men's coach from 1993-1998 where he coached many UNC greats, including Mark Wilson.  From there, Coach Sapp went on to become the associate head coach of both the men's and women's teams at Purdue for four years.  While at Purdue, Coach Sapp helped the men's team to a 7th place finish at the 2002 NCAA Championship and helped the women's team reach three consecutive NCAA Championships.  In 2002, Coach Sapp accepted the head coaching position at the University of Michigan.  At Michigan, he coached several All-Americans and led the Wolverines to Top 10 NCAA Championship finishes in 2009 and 2011.

UNC Men's Assistant Coach, Andrew DiBitetto, is also in his second year with the Tar Heels.  DiBitetto played at UNC Charlotte from 2004-2008, where he was named an All-American in 2007 while helping his team to a 3rd place finish at the NCAA Championship.  In 2008, he also helped his team to a consensus #1 national ranking before the 49ers finished 8th at NCAA's.  DiBitetto was the assistant coach at UNC Charlotte from 2009-2010 and was then was the interim head coach in the Spring of 2011.  As either a player or coach, he was a part of six consecutive Conference Championships for the Charlotte 49ers. 

Facilities, Lodging, and Meals

All camp instruction will take place at the UNC men's golf practice facility, the Chapman Center, which is located at UNC Finley Golf Course.  Additionally, all play and on course instruction will also take place at UNC Finley GC.    The Chapman Center, which includes a large driving range, wedge area, short game area, two putting greens, and indoor hitting bays, opened in November of 2001 and provides campers with a first class practice facility for the week.  The UNC Finley Golf Course, a Tom Fazio design, is one of the premier college course in the nation and was selected by the Golf Channel as the nation's #7 university golf course.  UNC Finley GC will also be hosting a Division I Men's NCAA Regional in 2015.  Campers will stay at Granville Towers on the UNC campus and all meals will be provided for the entire duration of the camp.
