Golfers 6th In Golf World/WGCA Poll

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of North Carolina women's golf team is ranked sixth in the latest Golf World/WGCA (Women's Golf Coaches Association) Poll that was released Thursday.  The Tar Heels won their last two tournaments of the fall campaign, the Liz Murphey Fall Preview and the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.  Carolina is ranked seventh in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings and ninth in Golfstat's Rankings.

Earlier in the fall, Carolina finished in 10th place at the Mason Rudolph Championship and tied for ninth place at the Cougar Classic.

Casey Grice, a junior from College Station, Texas, has led the Tar Heels in three of their four fall outings.  Grice was the runner-up at the Liz Murphey Fall Preview, tied for seventh at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, tied for 13th place at the Mason Rudolph Championship and tied for 14th at the Cougar Classic.  She leads Carolina with a 72.67 scoring average.  Not far behind Grice is Jackie Chang who boasts a 73.42 average.  Chang, a junior from Paradise Valley, Ariz., tied for ninth place at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, tied for 14th place at the Liz Murphey Fall Preview and the Cougar Classic and tied for 23rd at the Mason Rudolph Championship.  Sophomore Maia Schechter, from Takoma Park, Md., was the low Tar Heel at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational placing sixth.  Freshman Elizabeth Mallett, from Sutton Coldfield, England, tied for 15th place at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel while tying for 26th at the Liz Murphey Fall Preview.  Katherine Perry, a junior from Cary, N.C., tied for 19th place at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.
